My name is Jessca Loper and this is a blog dedicated to my work. It is kept pretty up to date and functions as my electronic portfolio. It goes back to about 2007 and provides a distinct look at my growth as an artist the past few years. My school work is very much conceptual and often fiber based while the commission work I've recently been doing tends to be simplifyed consisting of more graphic embroideries and paintings.

"Perched in Autumn"
Welded Steel
This is a piece made primarily out of a rusted bicycle. The pieces are arc-welded together and create a scene inspired by the season I was working in: Fall. The two metal discs are representative of two animals before hibernation begins, enjoying the last bit of coloured leaves and brisk air together. It could be scene as a metaphor about the final days in a peacefully ending relationship and the calm and restorative process it can be.
